Analysis of Richard M. Nixon's "Presidential Resignation"

The following is offered as one possible analysis of Richard M. Nixon's "Presidential Resignation," particularly that portion of the speech presented in paragraphs 5-15 of the speech. This two-claim interpretation of Nixon's argumentation is plausible, given his dual--and perhaps competing--objectives in the speech, namely to perform the official function of resignation and to praise his own administration.
